At the beginning of this chapter, I said, “Computers are a colossal extension of the human brain” and now, with AI, the challenge is to control a creation that will become smarter than the creator. I also talked about the Fujitsu ‘K’ computer’s processing power compared to the brain and also about NASA and Google developing supercomputers.

Although I touched on the subject earlier, I feel more needs to be said about the future of AI software and DNA coding. For those who understand a little bit of mathematics about Arabic numbers, in that they are based on ten digits (0 to 9) and out of this base we create tens, hundreds, thousands, millions, billions, trillions and so on.

However, in computers, we use base two, which is bits 0 and 1, like a switch: on and off. However, then we create a byte formed of eight bits and this gets increased by repeatedly multiplying by two to form 16, 32, 64, 128, 256 and so on. With this system, we created computers faster than the human brain and with much more speed and memory capacity.

Now, imagine if we use DNA coding based on four bits instead of two, then we start from four and repeatedly multiply by four to make 16, 64, 256, 1,024 and so on. However, manufacturing computer chips (integrated circuits [ICs]) has to change each transistor from one input and one output controlled by one gate to multiple inputs, outputs and gates.

Then the processing power and memory capacity will exceed the human brain in a small mobile phone that we can carry around with us to tell us anything we want to know and help us with making wiser decisions. However, we can hopefully create an ethically controlled AI with red lines that it cannot cross. Otherwise, we lose our freedom to our creation. It is like a father controlled by his children and who has lost the will to think freely.

With such technology and future advances, NASA and others can create spaceships to match the aliens from outer space and explore more galaxies. Robots will roam the earth as acceptable human shadows, programmed for specific tasks; for example, policing, bodyguards or personal assistants.

Most humans believe the 5,000-year-old story in Genesis that God created the earth, sun and moon, including Adam and Eve. Others believe in the evolution of natural selection and that humans evolved from chimpanzees in a six-million-year process of evolution. There are many TV programs of released unidentified-flying-object (UFO) files and ancient aliens’ history, which suggest that aliens visited the earth, built the pyramids, have done many unknown things (including tampering with human DNA) and have created us to mutate to various images.

Whatever the argument is about the creation of humans, they are advancing in technology amazingly fast and one day will they will even be able to create life itself or match their creators. However, the bitter fact is that humans remain insufficiently morally advanced and that limits their progress to faster evolution.
